CENTRALIZED AUTOMATED LUBRICATION SYSTEMS FOR GREASE AND OIL Positive Displacement Divider Block Systems Spray Systems Lube Systems Pump, Controllers & Accessories
Auto-lube systems have become more popular in recent years due to a demand for increased machine reliability. With fewer machines doing more work, downtime has become more costly and new JIT inventory practices leave little margin for production errors. Manual lubrication has proven for many to be ineffective and costly. Lube points are often inaccessible unless the machine is shut down and sometimes are forgotten altogether. With this method, the machine must be taken offline or remain running to eventually fail. Either way, downtime can cost thousands. Even if the machine doesn't fail immediately, the damage is done. Autolube sytems help to eliminate these problems.
Some machines can be manually lubricated by the book and without lost production, but centralized lubrication systems are still of great value.
With manual lubrication, lubricant is applied less often in large quantities and on static machines, so the bearings and bushings then have longer intervals between lube events. Since centralized lubrication gives a shot more often in smaller quantities while the machine is running, there's never metal-to-metal contact - practically no wear, even long after warranty expiration. The central lubrication system pays for itself quickly, saving big bucks for the user, and increasing equipment resell value. Our auto-lube sytems also create less mess and give the human lubricator opportunities to move on to bigger things.
Types of Centralized Lube Systems & Components
Positive Displacement Injector Systems
The injectors are made for grease or oil and operate in parallel. Some are individually adjustable and they come in various outputs and pressures. Very simple and reliable, they are most often used on in-plant and large mining equipment. As positive displacement devices, it doesn't matter where the lube point is. A point close to the pump will get the same amount of lube as a point far from the pump, every time. They operate much like a hypodermic syringe, but instead of a thumb pushing forward to inject medicine, the lubricant pushes the piston forward to inject lubricant.
These are made for grease or oil and operate in series. They also come in various sizes and pressures. As with the PDI system, the lube points will always get the same amount of measured lubricant, no matter what the line differential pressures are. These systems are simple, reliable, and provide many years of service.
Usually for chain or open gear applications, automated spray systems reduce chain stretching and extend gear life.
Lube systems are operated by pneumatic, electric, manual, or hydraulically driven pumps. Usually, if air is available, air is preferred as you'd find in factories and on large mining machines. When air is not available, as you'd find on mid-sized and smaller construction equipment, electric pumps are used. Halsysco also installs and sells manually operated pumps for smaller lube systems, and hydraulically driven pumps when hydraulic power is the best options.
Controllers for central grease and oil sytems are selected based on the application and customer preference. They come in various voltages, have adjustable on/off settings, and some have monitoring capabilities.
CENTRIFUGES
These are used for offline filterless filtering of lubricating and hydraulic oil. Oil centrifuges don't requre elements, so the advantages are obvious...no expensive new replacement elements and much lower disposal costs. Since they operate by centrifugal forces many times that of gravity, particulate removal to the sub-micron level is achieved, preventing damage to the oil's chemistry and preventing smaller particles from becoming larger ones.
OIL CIRCULATION SYSTEMS, FILTER HOUSINGS & ELEMENTS
Hydraulic oil, lubrication oil, and other fluids protecting machinery do their job only if they are properly filtered. Halsysco offers filter skids, housings and elements for almost any fluid found on industrial and mobile equipment.
